My wife and I lived in Germany for four years and got very used to the dinner environment in Europe...later meals, spending hours at the table talking and enjoying good company, good food, and good wine (and beer). This grill lets you return to that European life style...you prepare small portions of your meal at a time, so your food is always hot, you can have some great conversation, and before you know it, 2-3 hours may have passed. The grill allows you to cook items in a small "skillet" on top of the grill, and/or broil under the grill. Some friends from the Netherlands introduced us to this grill two years ago...we have since purchased four...two for us, for larger parties, and two as gifts for family. This grill works well for abour 4-6 people, depending on the style of table. We use two grills for 8 people (one on each end) so it is not so difficult to place things on or under the grill from opposite ends of the table. Our friends have enjoyed this experience and several have subsequently ordered this grill too.

Combination grill and broiler with 8 individual non-stick broiling/serving trays. Grill any food on top of the removable non-stick plate. Broil meat, vegetables and cheeses in the serving trays underneath. Great for entertaining friends in relaxed do-it-yourself setting. Very easy to clean with dishwasher safe and removable components. Unit Shipping Height ( ) (est): 6.This large, oval electric raclette grill makes it possible for eight people to enjoy a festive meal of Swiss-style melted cheese or foods such as kabobs, burgers, or fajitas. The grill is a two-level cooking unit with a pre-set thermostat. The 13-1/4-inch-long nonstick top functions as a griddle to fry food and toast bread. Underneath the top is a heating element that functions as a broiler to melt cheese--or to brown food--placed in eight, wedge-shaped, nonstick trays and slipped onto the base's chrome top. (Traditionally, the cheese is mellow, nutty Swiss raclette, which is also the name of the meal.) Including its handles, the rugged plastic base surrounding the chrome top measures 17 inches long. Both the base and its top wipe clean. The nonstick cooking plate removes for cleaning as easily as the nonstick trays. All this and more is explained in the instruction/recipe booklet.
